Christmas Tree Makeover

IMG_4481

This is my once favorite Christmas tree ever! Truth be told, it wasn’t expensive. I found it for sale on Facebook and only paid $50.00 for it! I was so excited to have it because our home has high ceilings and I didn’t like that our current tree looked like a miniature tree in our living room.

However, this year I put up our big green Christmas tree only to feel sad. Our poor tree needed a makeover. I mean, she deserves a makeover now and then too right?? My taste in holiday decor has changed a lot over the last couple of years. And I no longer want our home to look like a Christmas carnival for children, but rather move to a more classy adult look since our children are older now.

So after thinking all of this through…. I did what any woman on a budget would do, and went to Walmart! I purchased 5 cans of Santa Snow and some new shimmer white lights!

Here is the process that I used:

  1. remove any lights on the tree
  2. straighten all branches to your liking
  3. cover the floor around the tree to keep the fake snow from staining (even though it says “easy clean up”
  4. have a ladder handy if your tree is tall like mine
  5. grab a can of Santa Snow
  6. start spraying, making one pass from the top down to dust the top of the branches, and one pass from the bottom towards the top to dust the bottom of the branches as well
  7. let this sit until dry

After I added the shimmery lights to the tree.. it was perfect! I could have went and bought a new tree this year. Thats what I really had on my mind, but I am glad that I preserved the life of this one! Everyone that walks in to the house says how beautiful it is. And trust me, the photos and video don’t do it justice!

PLEASE keep in mind that everyone needs to follow basic Christmas tree safety this holiday season! No matter who says “try this” or “do this” always read product labels and warnings. While using Santa Snow I did find that this product is to be used on ever green branches/trees. However any time lights are involved I use extra care. No spray was applied to any lights, and I would never leave these lights on while sleeping or when the house is empty.
